Icicle Boy

The boy lives in a mountain village with his grandmother and sister after his mother abandoned the family, while his father went to work in a city, where he could earn money to support the family. He has to walk for more than an hour to go to school everyday which is located 4.5 kilos away from his home. The picture was taken by his teacher after he reached school one day when the temperature was 15°F. It is reported that the boy needs to collect weeds from the mountain and cook them as fodder for the pig raised by the family, after he finishes homework everyday. The picture has gone viral in China, which triggered donations for the family and the public awareness for the poor living and educational conditions in rural China.
